Whether you chalk it up to the roiling political climate or just a collective exhaustion with forever-sleek French modernism, there’s no denying the truth about this year’s showing at Design Miami—things are getting radical. Here, we’ve collected some of our favorite far-out moments from the ground.
New York–based pottery dealer Jason Jacques crafted a series of plywood structures—inspired by Japanese boxes—to house his wide selection of creations, ranging from Beate Kuhn’s colorful stoneware to Gareth Mason’s deconstructed beauties. “He brings it out of the kiln when it’s at the point of not making it,” Jacques says of Mason’s work. “And then he brings it back to life.”
